About The Position

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in Craig, Colorado. The role involves providing perioperative patient care, functioning as a Day Surgery RN, Intra-Operative RN (Circulating and/or Scrub), and PACU RN as needed. The position requires planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, monitoring patient conditions, collaborating with other disciplines, educating patients and families, and adhering to perioperative standards. The nurse will also be responsible for responding to emergencies and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered RN license in Colorado or a compact state.
  • BLS required within six months of hire.
  • ACLS required within six months of hire.
  • PALS or ENPC required within one year of hire.
  • Minimum of two years hospital nursing experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
  • Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Meet health requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous OR experience preferred.
  • TNCC preferred but required for call positions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate perioperative patient care plans based on assessment, serving as Day Surgery RN, Intra-Operative RN (Circulating and/or Scrub), and PACU RN as needed.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition; provide thorough handoffs to receiving nursing teams.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and psychosocial support needs; identify barriers to effective communication.
  • Assess learning needs of patient and family; provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances; effectively delegate to ancillary personnel.
  • Maintain adherence to perioperative standards and policies; ensure Perioperative Verification is complete before entering the surgical suite.
  • Respond to emergencies using ACLS/PALS-aligned protocols; protect patient confidentiality and perform other duties as assigned.
