About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in OR Circulator and Charge Acute Care at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in Geneva, NY. The contract duration is 23 weeks, with a start date of 09/21/2026. The position involves working 36 hours per week in a 4x9 shift schedule, with potential for on-call duties. The nurse will be expected to circulate in the OR across various service lines, ensuring surgical safety and sterile technique. Responsibilities include preparing the OR, verifying equipment, assisting during procedures, collaborating with the surgical team, monitoring patient status, maintaining infection prevention, and participating in care planning.

Requirements

  • Active New York RN license
  • OR circulator experience required; minimum 2 years working in the OR
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (through AHA/RQI) required
  • Ability to float to additional units as needed and to respond to on-call demands
  • Commitment to patient-centered care in a high-demand surgical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with orthopedics (including total joints, trauma, sports medicine), general surgery, urology, ENT, GI, spine, ophthalmology, and podiatry procedures is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Circulate in the OR across listed service lines, ensuring surgical safety and sterile technique throughout procedures
  • Prepare the OR environment, verify instrumentation and equipment readiness, perform instrument counts, and assist during cases
  • Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and perioperative staff to support patient care and optimize workflow
  • Monitor patient status, address changes in condition, and document care and intraoperative events accurately
  • Maintain infection prevention practices and environmental safety; provide patient and family education as appropriate
  • Participate in handoffs and post-operative care planning, contributing to continuity of care across the perioperative pathway
