About The Position

This is a travel temporary assignment for an Oncology Registered Nurse in Marysville, California. The contract is for 8 weeks, with guaranteed 36 hours per week on a 4x10-hour day schedule. The work setting is a Short Term Acute Care Hospital. The role involves providing direct nursing care to Oncology patients, administering medications and therapies, collaborating with the care team, managing IV therapy and symptom control, and documenting care in the electronic medical record (EPIC).

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse license in California.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card (Fundamentals or Standard course) required.
ONC/ONCC-CHIM (Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Medical Oncology Nursing Certification) required.
EPIC EMR experience required (backfill and daily use).
Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a clinical setting.
Must be able to work in the designated unit and comply with facility policies and patient care standards.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred; higher education is encouraged to support specialty practice.
PICC Certification preferred; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to Oncology patients, applying the nursing process to develop and implement an individualized plan of care.
Administer medications and therapies per physician orders, including chemotherapy/immunotherapy when qualified, monitor for adverse effects, and respond to changes in patient condition.
Collaborate with physicians and other members of the care team to coordinate treatment plans, discharge planning, and patient education tailored to age-appropriate needs.
Assess patient responses to treatment, manage IV therapy and symptom control, and delegate tasks to licensed and certified staff within scope of practice.
Document care and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EPIC) with accuracy and timeliness; ensure continuity of care across shifts and disciplines.
