Registered Nurse - MICU
About The Position
This is a Registered Nurse position in the MICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit). The shift is 4x12 Nights from 1900-0700. It requires every other weekend work. Locals are not accepted; candidates must be over a 75-mile radius. First-time travelers are accepted. Charting must be done in EPIC. The unit has 16 beds and cares for patients with conditions including sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-vad workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock. The unit utilizes CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2, with occasional 1:1 assignments based on patient acuity.
Requirements
- Valid NY State RN License in hand.
- EPIC charting experience required.
- Must be located over a 75-mile radius from the facility.
- Ability to work 4x12 Night shifts (1900-0700).
- Willingness to work every other weekend.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, Impella.
- Experience with targeted temperature management.
- Experience with pre-vad workups.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
- Manage patients with complex conditions such as sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, multi-organ failure, and respiratory failure/shock.
- Care for patients requiring specialized treatments and equipment including CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella.
- Perform targeted temperature management for post-cardiac arrest patients.
- Administer care for patients with pre-vad workups, alcohol withdrawal, and overdose.
- Document patient care using EPIC charting system.
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 assignments based on acuity.
