About The Position

This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) position for a Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit in Portland, Oregon. The assignment is for a 13-week duration, starting on 10/12/2026, with guaranteed 36 hours per week. The role involves providing coordinated nursing care, supervising staff, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams within a Med Surg service line in a short-term acute care hospital setting. The nurse will be responsible for delivering direct, evidence-based nursing care, including patient assessments, care planning, and outcome evaluation. Key responsibilities also include coordinating care, delegating tasks, collaborating with patients and families, and documenting interventions in the electronic health record (EPIC).

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (Oregon) or eligible in the state of assignment
Minimum of two years of recent acute care nursing experience; Med Surg experience preferred
BLS or Basic Life Support certification from an approved vendor; CPR certification or equivalent required
Facility-specific BLS: AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required
EPIC experience required
Ability to work night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and meet assignment needs
Vaccination requirements per policy and employment regulations

Nice To Haves

Med Surg experience preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

Deliver direct, evidence-based nursing care for Med Surg patients following the nursing process.
Collect relevant data, perform assessments, identify care needs, develop and implement a plan, and evaluate patient outcomes.
Coordinate care with the health care team, supervise and delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff, and ensure safe, patient-centered care.
Collaborate with patients, families, and other clinicians; participate in discharge planning to support continuity of care.
Document care and interventions in the electronic health record (EPIC) and advocate for patient safety, comfort, and education.
