About The Position

Registered Nurse – LTAC (Long Length of Stay Acute Med‑Surg) in Olympia, WA. This is a temporary assignment in a short-term acute care hospital setting, focusing on long length-of-stay patients with added acute medical beds on a 22-bed unit. The role requires regular float to similar Med‑Surg units within scope. The contract duration is for weeks, with a start date of 09/09/2026. Weekly pay is estimated between $2,046–$2,156 per week, with no guaranteed hours. The shift is 3x12 Days.

Requirements

Active RN license (not pending) in good standing; WA license preferred if applicable; pending licenses not accepted.
BLS certification required.
Minimum 1 year RN experience; LTAC experience preferred but not required; first-time travelers accepted.
EPIC charting experience required.
Ability to work in a LTAC-style long-length-of-stay unit with dementia/autism and acute medical patients; comfortable with behavioral/cognitive challenges.
Regular float to like Med‑Surg units within skill set; not required to float mid-shift.
Every other weekend (EOW) coverage as part of the schedule.
RTO preference: keep under 7 days.
Local travelers within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for travel contracts.
Orientation: 12 hours; pre-start modules typically ~16 hours (completed prior to start).
2 references covering 1 year within the last 3 years (required during compliance).

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive med-surg nursing care for adults and geriatrics, including patients with behavioral/cognitive challenges.
Provide care for long-length-of-stay patients plus up to 8 additional acute medical beds; manage complex needs and safety.
Perform wound care (including wound VAC), feeding tube care, colostomy/ileostomy care, IV therapy, medication administration, blood product administration, and oxygen/airway support.
Monitor patient status, respond to changes, manage drains and post-op considerations, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services, Radiology, Phlebotomy, Rapid Response).
Utilize EPIC for charting; uphold accurate documentation and care planning; participate in care coordination and discharge planning as appropriate.
Assist with mobility and activities of daily living using lifts and mobility equipment; uphold patient safety and fall prevention.
