Travel Registered Nurse L&D Job
About The Position
This is a travel Registered Nurse (RN) position specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D) located in Fort Defiance, Arizona. The assignment is for a 16-week duration with a start date of 08/24/2026. The role involves providing direct obstetric nursing care in L&D, postpartum, and newborn units within a Short-Term Acute Care Hospital setting. The nurse will support Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) practices, assist with deliveries, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and maintain patient safety and comfort. Flexibility to cover other shifts, weekends, and holidays is expected, and the nurse may be asked to float to other departments when qualified.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Arizona (or eligibility to practice in Arizona)
- Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care in a healthcare setting
- Certifications: American Heart Association ACLS OR ALSO; BLS; NRP; AWHONN Advanced FHM required (may substitute RNC-EFM for AWHONN FHM)
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts with flexibility to cover weekends and holidays; willing to float to other departments as needed
- RN degree from an accredited program
Responsibilities
- Provide direct obstetric nursing care in L&D, postpartum, and newborn units, including labor support, monitoring fetal well-being, pain management, and postpartum recovery.
- Support Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) practices and assist with newborn care, including room-in with mothers and support for breastfeeding.
- Assist with delivery procedures as appropriate, including cesarean and vaginal deliveries, and participate in as-needed charge nurse activities after training.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record, and participate in patient education and discharge planning.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, respond to call lights, and assist with unit tasks as needed; may float to other departments when qualified.
