About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at a hospital in Boston, MA. The contract is for 13 weeks, starting on 08/24/2026. The role involves providing direct nursing care for labor, delivery, and recovery patients in a high-risk obstetrics unit. Key responsibilities include monitoring maternal and fetal status, administering medications, assisting with procedures, documenting care in EPIC, and educating patients and families. The position requires strong telemetry skills and experience in a high-risk obstetrics environment.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts or eligible for licensure in the state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required; include copies of both; all NRP lessons must be completed and not expire during the assignment.
  • Minimum 2 recent years of L&D RN experience and OR circulator experience; high-risk obstetrics preferred; CNM experience will not be considered; travel experience required.
  • Previous EPIC electronic health record experience required.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips; must pass telemetry interpretation test Day 1 with 85% or higher.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (RN).

  • High-risk obstetrics experience preferred
  • CNM experience will not be considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for labor, delivery, and recovery patients within a high-risk obstetrics unit.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status; independently read and interpret telemetry strips and respond to changes; must pass telemetry test Day 1 with 85% +.
  • Administer medications and monitor effects per orders; support during emergencies and procedures; assist with anesthesia as needed.
  • Assist with operative deliveries and recovery, maintain sterile technique, and support OR staff and patient care.
  • Document care in EPIC; coordinate with physicians, midwives, and other members of the care team; educate patients and families; assist with discharge planning.
  • Triage and admit laboring patients, manage unit flow, and participate in ongoing patient safety initiatives.
