About The Position

This is an 18-week travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D) at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in Templeton, California. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including managing emergencies and assisting with C-sections. The position requires a current California RN license, a minimum of two years of L&D experience, and specific certifications. The assignment offers a weekly pay range of $2,634 to $2,835 with guaranteed 36 hours per week on a night shift (3x12s), starting on 08/31/2026.

Requirements

  • Current California RN license (active) in the state of practice
  • Minimum two years of Labor & Delivery experience
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate/Advanced Fetal Monitoring training; AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring required
  • EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience
  • Ability to work night shifts and rotating schedule in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including emergency situations and circulating for C-sections.
  • Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the health care team; supervise and delegate to ancillary staff within scope.
  • Monitor fetal and maternal status, assess amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and recognize and manage perinatal emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia).
  • Manage pain control during labor and support/implement alternative pain modalities when appropriate.
  • Assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor fetal and maternal status during placement and after medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families across perinatal and postpartum periods, tailoring teaching to age, culture, and learning readiness; document care legibly and timely.
