About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery (L&D) at a Short Term Acute Care Hospital in Templeton, CA. The assignment is for 13 weeks, starting on 08/31/2026, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week, typically worked as three 12-hour day shifts. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients, monitoring their status, administering medications, and assisting with labor, delivery, and postpartum care. The nurse will collaborate with the healthcare team, ensure accurate documentation, educate patients and families, and participate in care coordination and discharge planning.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved nursing program
Current California RN license
BLS certification
ACLS and NRP certifications required within 6 months of hire
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring required on hire and every two years
For nurses new to L&D, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring within first 6–8 months of orientation
EPIC experience required
One year of recent acute care RN experience

Responsibilities

Deliver professional nursing care to obstetric patients in L&D, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications, and assist with labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Coordinate with physicians, midwives, and the health care team; delegate and supervise tasks as appropriate.
Ensure patient safety, accurate documentation in the EPIC system, and strict adherence to standards of nursing practice and hospital policies.
Educate patients and families about procedures, care plans, and newborn care; participate in care coordination and discharge planning.
Support and participate in the LDRP model of care and maintain readiness for emergencies.
