About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse specializing in GI/interventional care in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The role involves providing professional RN care in an ambulatory GI/interventional care setting, focusing on pre-procedure assessment and post-procedure monitoring. The nurse will administer medications, establish IV access, and manage patient safety and comfort during GI procedures. Key responsibilities include educating patients on GI conditions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care, as well as supporting patients with complex digestive health needs. Collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the care team is essential for coordinating patient care, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, and ensuring continuity of care. The position requires adherence to infection control and safety protocols, recognizing and escalating changes in patient status, and providing appropriate discharge instructions. A patient-centered approach with attention to culturally and linguistically appropriate care is expected, with bilingual English/Spanish being preferred.

Requirements

  • Active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program or state board-approved RN program
  • Minimum 2 years of GI RN experience
  • Prior RN clinic/ambulatory care experience
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association (card in-hand before start date)
  • Ability to work in an ambulatory/clinic-like GI environment
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and patient education skills
  • English required

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional RN care in an ambulatory GI/interventional care setting, including pre-procedure assessment and post-procedure monitoring.
  • Administer medications, establish IV access, and manage patient safety and comfort during GI procedures.
  • Educate patients on GI conditions, treatment plans, medications, post-procedure care, and lifestyle considerations.
  • Support patients with pancreatobiliary and complex digestive health needs, including swallowing issues, stents, liver-related concerns, reflux, and related conditions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the care team to coordinate patient care, document accurately in the electronic medical record, and ensure timely follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and clinic policies; recognize and escalate changes in patient status.
  • Provide appropriate discharge instructions and coordinate referrals or additional ambulatory services as needed.
  • Maintain a patient-centered approach with attention to culturally and linguistically appropriate care; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
