About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, delivering, and managing direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to nursing practice standards. The role is in the Emergency Room and involves caring for patients from admission through discharge, with care appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population. The position is scheduled for 24 hours per week on an evening shift, 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 a.m. The schedule includes every third weekend and every other holiday. The role requires current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration, as well as BLS unless the nurse has current ACLS certification. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is highly preferred. Department-specific competencies and their measurements are maintained by the department and reviewed with position incumbents. Work is considered medium and takes place indoors in a patient-care environment.

Requirements

Current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration.
Current BLS certification, unless current ACLS certification is held.
Thorough knowledge of the discipline of nursing.
Meet department-specific competencies and measurements.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for requirements where certification, licensure, or registration is not required.

Responsibilities

Use the nursing process to deliver and manage patient care from admission through discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to standard procedure.
Develop and coordinate individual plans of care, including discharge planning.
Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
