About The Position
This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ER) located in San Luis Obispo, CA. The assignment is for approximately 13 weeks, starting on 09/28/2026. The role involves working a 3x12 night shift in a hospital setting, providing acute care in the ED for patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics. This position is part of the ED care team and is represented by a CNA.
Requirements
- Ability to provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced emergency department environment
- Strong triage, assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation standards
- Effective communication and teamwork with physicians, CNAs, and multidisciplinary staff
- Flexibility to work night shifts on a 3x12 schedule in a high-volume ED
Responsibilities
- Provide triage, initial assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for ED patients across the age spectrum
- Administer medications, start clinical interventions, and monitor patient status; perform ER-appropriate procedures within scope
- Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and other ED staff to coordinate timely patient care and throughput
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record and ensure clear handoffs at shift change
- Deliver patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Support the ED team with timely escalation and safety protocols as needed
