About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ER) at a hospital in Utica, New York. The contract is for 16 weeks, starting on October 5, 2026. The role involves providing direct patient care in a fast-paced ED setting, administering medications, initiating IV access, running basic labs, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. The nurse will also be responsible for accurate EMR documentation and supporting ED operations during high-acuity events. Floating to other ED areas may be required to meet patient care demands.

Requirements

  • Active New York registered nurse license with Nursys verification
  • 2+ years of Emergency Department nursing experience
  • Travel experience required; must live at least 75 miles from the assignment facility
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
  • EMR experience required: EPIC
  • Driver’s license with address matching demographics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and adapt to floating assignments as needed

  • Pediatrics experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the Emergency Department, including initial assessment, ongoing monitoring, and intervention for a wide range of patients across the lifespan.
  • Administer medications, initiate IV access, run basic labs as ordered, and monitor patient responses; document interventions and outcomes.
  • Triage effectively, collaborate with ED clinicians, nurses, technicians, and case management to determine disposition and ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR (EPIC); ensure charting reflects current condition, treatments, and communications with the care team.
  • Support ED operations during high-acuity events (e.g., stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, respiratory failure) and perform supported procedures as directed.
  • Floating to other ED areas as needed to meet patient care demands and maintain unit coverage.
