About The Position

This is a travel, temporary assignment for a Registered Nurse Case Manager in Sitka, Alaska. The role supports hospital-based patient care coordination and discharge planning. The assignment is for 13 weeks with guaranteed 40 hours per week, starting on 10/05/2026. Weekly pay ranges from $3,270 to $3,439. Shift details will be discussed at the interview.

Requirements

  • Active nursing license in Alaska; license must be active at time of submission.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 8 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in chart review, risk management, or related quality service.
  • Flu vaccine required.
  • Knowledge of basic ICD-9 and CPT coding; strong nursing terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease concepts.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with providers, staff, and patients; strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Case Management certification by a recognized certifying organization (e.g., NCQA, CCMC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient records and monitor progression, assessing the necessity, length of stay, and quality of care.
  • Perform continuing review of hospitalizations and provide UM/CM services for patients admitted under payer or regulatory oversight.
  • Obtain and review medical reports and treatment plans as requested by regulatory agencies or payers; review and validate physician orders.
  • Collaborate with leadership, the clinical care team, and physicians to ensure services are appropriate, cost-effective, and aligned with UM/CM/DCP plans.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans for new admissions based on patient condition and needs; coordinate discharge planning and communication with patients and families about care options and benefits.
  • Maintain documentation to support UM/CM functions, communicate results to payers, and participate in interdisciplinary team activities.
  • Perform tumor registry functions as assigned and assist with regulatory or quality improvement initiatives.
