About The Position

A Registered Dietitian is required to offer nutrition counseling to patients and families for the Oncology and Haematology team's on-site and virtual as required. The Dietitian functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team and attends and participates in patient rounds and conferences with medical, nursing and allied health personnel. The dietitian is a member of the CHEO Discipline of Dietitians and participates in the hospital wide on-call system. This is a temporary full-time position until September 2027.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Dietetics (Essential)
  • Successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship (Essential)
  • Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario (Essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal and teaching skills (Essential)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (French/English) (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Member of the Dietitians of Canada (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provides initial and follow-up nutritional counseling to patients and families
  • Plans the nutritional care for patients on therapeutic and modified diets, maintains current and accurate patient diet information records and provides instructions for patients and families concerning dietary aspects of treatment
  • Provides pertinent nutrition information to individuals over the telephone as required.
  • Extensive teaching of families and other health care professionals including dietetic interns.
  • Continuous learning to develop expertise in the specialties
