About The Position

The Referral and Scheduling Coordinator manages and facilitates patient referrals within a healthcare organization, processing referrals to support access to specialty care and services. The role coordinates with healthcare providers, patients, and external specialists to arrange appointments, obtain required documentation, and track referral outcomes. This position works onsite in a clinical environment and reports to the Referral Supervisor. It is patient-facing and runs the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program; selected candidates will be required to undergo TB screening.

Requirements

Experience in a healthcare setting in referral management or medical office administration.
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and EHR systems.
Handle confidential information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Undergo TB screening if selected for the role.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

Process an average of 40 referrals per day accurately and in a timely manner.
Handle an average of 65 calls per day while providing professional and efficient service.
Verify patient, provider, and insurance information to ensure referral documentation is complete.
Communicate with physicians, specialists, and internal departments about referral status and requirements.
Maintain accurate records and documentation within applicable systems.
Comply with company policies, healthcare regulations, and established procedures.
Run the Tuberculosis (TB) screening program.
