About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting with the management and coordination of recreation programs and facilities. The Recreation Operations Coordinator will support the daily operations of the Parks and Recreation Department, ensuring smooth execution of events, programs, and facility usage. This role involves direct interaction with the public, program participants, and other city staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in Recreation Management, Parks and Recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in recreation programming, facility management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Parks and Recreation, or a related field.
  • Experience with recreation management software.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of recreation programs and special events.
  • Oversee daily operations of recreation facilities, including parks, community centers, and sports fields.
  • Coordinate facility reservations and rentals, ensuring proper setup and cleanup.
  • Provide customer service and information to the public regarding programs, facilities, and events.
  • Assist with budget management, including tracking expenses and revenue for assigned programs.
  • Supervise and train seasonal staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and city policies at all facilities and events.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on program attendance, facility usage, and operational activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments and external organizations on joint projects and initiatives.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to recreation services.
