About The Position

Major Food Group is hiring a Receiver to join its team at Carbone, an Italian-American restaurant created by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi, and Jeff Zalaznick. Carbone pays homage to mid-20th-century Italian-American restaurants in New York while presenting familiar dishes with contemporary culinary techniques. The Receiver inspects incoming items for consistency and quality, verifies invoices, communicates shortages or improper deliveries to suppliers and purchasing, and arranges credit notes. The role transports and stores products, rotates inventory, checks dates on perishable food, and keeps storage areas clean and organized. The Receiver may also assist with other duties as needed.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in a stock and receiving position in a Food and Beverage environment.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Inspect items received for consistency and quality, and verify invoices against items ordered or received.
Advise suppliers, vendors, and purchasing of short shipments and goods not received in proper order, and arrange for credit notes.
Transport products to assigned storerooms and organize storage for future use.
Store items in appropriate storerooms and rotate stock using the first-in, first-out inventory method and/or the “empty for full” policy.
Check dates on perishable food items.
Maintain cleanliness and organize storage areas, including fridges, freezers, and dry storage; clear empty boxes and condense items to use storage areas efficiently.
Assist with other duties as needed.
