About The Position

The Receiver at Family Farm and Home verifies and processes incoming and outgoing freight, maintains inventory accuracy, and assists the store manager in keeping shrink low. The role ensures merchandise is safely and properly loaded and unloaded from trucks and supports the store’s backroom operations. The receiver promotes the company’s mission and family values and contributes to a positive working environment.

Requirements

Good oral and written communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and associates in person and by telephone.
Customer-service-oriented and team-oriented approach.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to distinguish between similar products, accurately count products, and accurately enter data into the store inventory control system.
Knowledge of basic computer systems.
Ability to stand for extended periods; climb ladders; reach, bend, twist, and kneel; lift up to 50 pounds; handle large, oddly shaped items; and stock items in overhead areas.

Responsibilities

Promote Family Farm and Home’s mission statement and family values.
Receive and sort shipments using proper receiving procedures.
Operate a forklift and/or pallet jack safely and efficiently with proper licensing.
Separate special orders from deliveries and process them according to store policy.
Apply security tags to required items, when applicable.
Establish and maintain organization standards in the backroom.
Ensure inbound merchandise is checked in according to store procedures.
Maintain organized and accurate backroom paperwork files.
Oversee proper procedures for inter-store transfers.
Process damage claims according to store policy and maintain related paperwork.
Follow up on damage claims and returns in a timely manner.
Assist with stocking freight.
Answer customer service phone calls.
Maintain backroom tools and supplies as necessary.
Ensure proper rotation of perishable products, such as feed and pet food.
Maintain cleanliness of the backroom and outside areas of the store.
Maintain compliance with company policies and meet audit standards.
Contribute to a positive working environment for team members.
Perform other duties as assigned by store management or a company official.
