About The Position

Reading Corps is hiring a Reading Tutor to help elementary students strengthen their reading skills. Tutors receive training in proven activities and ongoing coaching. Each school day, tutors work with pairs of students for 20-minute reading practice sessions, moving through their assigned schedule until all students have been served. Tutors encourage students as they build reading skills and confidence and help them return to their classrooms between sessions.

The position serves at a local school and includes regular collaboration with the school's on-site coach. Tutors assess student skills, record scores in data software, participate in coaching and training, and share their experience with the community. Positions for the 2026–27 school year run from August 2026 through June 2027. Full-time positions are 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days; part-time positions of 25 hours per week are also available. Hours are during the school day, Monday through Friday, with holidays and school release days off.

Requirements

• Dependable, with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills, such as email and navigating online.
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• At least 18 years old by the time service begins.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.
