About The Position

The RCM Billing & Collections Specialist creates claims invoices for commercial products and submits claims to third-party insurance carriers. The role monitors aging to support proper and timely payment, corrects claim data in the Acuity Logic system, and follows up on claim denials. The specialist develops expertise in assigned plans, serves as a resource for department staff and retail units, reports personal KPI data weekly to the Manager, and assists the AR Manager and Commercial Claim Supervisor with special projects. The position also communicates system, site, and billing company issues promptly and makes recommendations for improvements in efficiency, quality, cost savings, and profitability.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• One year of accounts receivable experience with third-party billing.
• Knowledge of insurance billing processes.
• Entry-level PC skills in MS Windows, Word, and Excel.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with coworkers and prepare concise, accurate reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment and prioritize the good of the team over the individual.

Responsibilities

• Correct claim data in the Acuity Logic system before billing for specified plans.
• Submit paper and electronic claims in Acuity Logic to third-party carriers for specified plans in a timely manner.
• Submit manual vouchers and invoices promptly to plans that do not accept claim forms.
• Maintain and report personal KPI data to the Manager weekly.
• Interpret and follow up on claim denials from third-party carriers for specified plans.
• Monitor aging for specified plans to support prompt and accurate payment.
• Develop expertise in assigned plans and act as a department and company resource for billing questions about those plans.
• Assist the AR Manager and Commercial Claim Supervisor with special projects as needed.
• Communicate system, site, and billing company issues to the AR Manager promptly.
• Answer retail units’ questions about billing.
• Recommend efficiencies, processes, and other improvements that support quality, cost savings, or profitability.
