About The Position

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for championing the Quality Management System (QMS) and promoting a LEAN culture throughout the plant. This role involves maintaining and expanding the QMP, co-leading certification processes, and updating ISO9001 documentation. The supervisor will develop a quality program providing daily feedback to production employees, gather data on rework losses, and brief on quality and cost slides in the morning brief. They will also lead quality special projects, notify customers and management of panel completions, and lead and develop quality technicians. Ownership of quality assurance documentation is key, including developing and maintaining procedures for feedback on print, BOM, and label mark-ups. The role involves inspecting panels, reviewing blueprints, conducting advanced controls functional validation on PLC programs and control logic for various brands, and ensuring regulatory compliance to UL, HazLoc, ETL, and others. The supervisor will assist plant leadership with new standards implementation, assign and delegate to quality technicians, and train and develop a competent quality team and production technicians. A training program for production employees based on quality metrics will be developed and implemented to foster continuous improvement and product excellence. The supervisor will also check adherence to standards and procedures on the assembly/production line, enforce tool management programs, update job knowledge through training, ensure measurement equipment accuracy, lead safety culture initiatives, and ensure procedures are in place to reduce consumable shortages. The position requires the ability to read, write, and speak English, perform simple mathematical calculations, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Proficient/Advanced knowledge of VFDs, PLCs, and other relevant electronic devices
  • Graduate of a technical school with emphasis in electrical work or associate degree required
  • Able to read and comprehend electrical schematics
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and plant standards
  • Be able to use tools such as pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers and other small tools
  • Ability to effectively and regularly converse and comprehend in English
  • Solid work ethic
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, co-workers, customers, and vendors
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism among co-workers and customers
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes extended hours

Responsibilities

  • Champion the Quality Management System (QMS) using the principles of quality management
  • Maintain and expand documented QMP
  • Co-lead certification processes
  • Maintain and update all relevant ISO9001 documentation
  • Promote a LEAN culture throughout the plant
  • Know the eight wastes and work to reduce and eliminate waste within the constructs of the plant’s business strategy
  • Lead 3S endeavors in quality area and participate in 3S throughout the plant
  • Develop a quality program that provides daily feedback to the production employees
  • Gather data to ascertain losses due to rework
  • Maintain and brief the quality slide(s) in the morning brief as well as conduct short lessons as required
  • Share the responsibility of maintaining and briefing the cost slide(s) in the morning brief with the Operations Manager, providing feedback as appropriate
  • Lead quality special projects as required
  • Notify appropriate customers and management of panel completions weekly
  • Lead and develop quality technician(s), to include quality assurance and training personnel
  • Assume full ownership of quality assurance documentation
  • In coordination with engineering, develop and maintain procedures for continual feedback on print, BOM, and label mark-ups
  • Inspect panels, review blueprints and specifications to compare with produced
  • As part of the QMS, develop and maintain a procedure for continual feedback to the engineering team on print, BOM, and label mark-ups, fostering continuous improvement
  • Conduct advanced controls functional
  • Perform validation on PLC programs and control logic for all major brands supported, including but not limited to Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Emerson, IDEC, ensuring all systems meet specifications
  • Ensure regulatory compliance to UL, HazLoc, ETL, and others for all relevant products inspected and tested
  • Assist plant leadership with the implementation and launch of new standards as required
  • Assign and delegate to quality technicians according to strategic vision
  • Train, develop, and appropriately document work methods for a competent quality team and production technicians and provide relevant Warehouse feedback for the Warehouse coordinator
  • Develop and implement a training program for production employees based on quality metrics obtained to foster continuous improvement in the plant, improving product excellence
  • Discuss/train work method changes in morning brief
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complies with requirements
  • Abide by and enforce any implemented tool management program, monitoring the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements
  • Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training
  • Keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs
  • Be a leader in safety culture, conducting Stop It Drop It & Behavioral Based Safety observations as required to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure procedures are in place to reduce the risk of consumable shortages (i.e., stickers)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication) to make job-related calculations
