About The Position

The Quality Inspector performs complex geometric dimensional inspections of received materials, first articles, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications. The role is under the supervision of the Quality Manager and includes recording and reporting inspection results, addressing production deviations, and supporting quality and safety procedures. The position is located at Instrument Development Company in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and is listed as full-time on the first shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, at least 5 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
Ability to perform manual layout inspection using height gauges and hand tools.
Ability to operate manual and/or DCC CMM equipment.
Ability to operate an optical comparator and related peripherals.
Understanding of the care and use of pin gauges, thread gauges, and gauge blocks.
Ability to understand complex dimensioning systems and interpret GD&T symbols.
Ability to determine pass/fail on visual criteria under magnification and operate a microscope.
Ability to communicate deviations from tolerances and quality concerns to the manager.
Ability to make decisions, communicate effectively, and work with others.
Ability to be a team player, self-starter, problem solver, and adaptable.
Basic computer and math skills and good reading comprehension.
Ability to read and interpret complex documents, including blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications, and safety regulations.
Ability to solve practical problems and handle varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammed, or scheduled instructions.

Responsibilities

Approve incoming materials and parts by confirming specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests.
Approve in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and CMM inspections using existing programs, and communicating required production adjustments.
Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for rework, and confirming rework.
Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, entering data into the quality database, and creating non-conforming material reports.
Perform first article inspections and submit results to manufacturing.
Take precision measurements and perform complex precision setups.
Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other measurement tools.
Generate inspection plans and first article inspection reports and record measurements.
Interpret certifications, blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
Assist in addressing and resolving production problems that cause deviations from existing standards.
Comply with quality and safety regulations and procedures, including ISO 9000-compliant procedures.
Complete other duties as assigned.
