About The Position

24-MAG LLC is seeking experienced quality assurance and source-inspection professionals for a fully remote independent-contractor consulting engagement supporting AI training and technical evaluation initiatives. Contributors will assess inspection scenarios and manufacturing or structural-quality data, apply regulated-industry standards, document disposition decisions, and explain technical reasoning across aerospace, defence, manufacturing, and marine contexts. No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required; hands-on inspection expertise is the primary qualification. Assignments may involve First Article Inspection review against AS9102, manufacturing-defect disposition, production and source-inspection data analysis, government inspection scenarios involving DCMA protocols and FAR Part 46, and evaluation of marine-survey documentation and hull or marine structures. Work may include producing reports, evaluation data, and structured quality assessments. Project scope, scenarios, and documentation may vary. Work must not use classified, controlled, export-controlled, confidential, proprietary, government-restricted, customer-sensitive, or otherwise protected third-party information.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience conducting complex quality inspections.
  • Significant experience with First Article Inspection and production-quality disposition.
  • Deep familiarity with AS9102 First Article standards.
  • Practical experience interpreting government inspection requirements.
  • Familiarity with DCMA protocols and FAR Part 46.
  • Strong ability to interpret production-line and inspection data.
  • Experience making technically defensible acceptance or rejection decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills, including the ability to explain inspection rationale clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency with digital documentation and reporting tools.
  • Ability to collaborate in a remote professional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in U.S. aerospace or defence manufacturing.
  • Marine-survey experience in regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hull and marine-survey processes.
  • Experience as a senior QA inspector, supplier quality engineer, DCMA QAR, or marine surveyor.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate First Article Inspections against AS9102 requirements.
  • Assess inspection documentation for regulatory and customer compliance and identify incomplete, inconsistent, or non-compliant records.
  • Make and document inspection disposition decisions with clear technical rationale.
  • Assess manufacturing and assembly defects, including cosmetic defects, and determine whether conditions warrant acceptance or rejection.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and potential production concerns.
  • Analyze inspection and production-line data, identify quality trends, and recommend actions based on inspection findings.
  • Apply supplier and production-quality principles to simulated scenarios and evaluate manufacturing evidence for consistency and reliability.
  • Apply Government Source Inspection principles, interpret DCMA protocols where relevant, and apply FAR Part 46 requirements to simulated scenarios.
  • Identify regulated-manufacturing inspection issues that require escalation or additional review.
  • Review marine-structure and hull documentation and data, and provide expert input on virtual marine-survey scenarios.
  • Generate detailed reports and communicate technical conclusions and disposition rationale clearly in written and verbal form.
