Part-Time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

About The Position
The PMHNP will provide psychiatric services to individuals enrolled in our ACT program and collaborate closely with nursing, clinical, substance use, vocational, peer, and other ACT team members. The position requires 16–20 hours per week, including at least two consistent in-person days each week.
Requirements
- Current Virginia Nurse Practitioner license
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification
- Current prescriptive authority and DEA registration, as applicable
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience providing psychiatric services to adults with serious mental illness preferred
- Experience with ACT, community mental health, or high-acuity behavioral health populations is strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication-management appointments
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications within scope of practice
- Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and client response to treatment
- Collaborate with the ACT nurse and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Participate in treatment planning and clinical consultation
- Coordinate with hospitals, primary care providers, pharmacies, and other providers as clinically appropriate
- Complete required clinical documentation within established timeframes
- Participate in ACT treatment-team activities and support continuity of psychiatric care
- Provide education to clients regarding medications, symptoms, and treatment recommendations
