About The Position

The duties of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) mid-level provider include, but are not limited to, providing accurate mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, education and follow-up care to patients suffering from mental illnesses, disorders or substance abuse problems; proper maintenance of records, and any other reasonable and proper duties assigned. Cibola General Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital in Grants, NM, dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of the region and providing access to important medical services closer to home. The hospital is located one hour from Albuquerque and close to Santa Fe, known for its mild year-round climate and outdoor activities, with low property taxes and inexpensive housing costs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • 3+ years as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with experience in mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, managing common psychiatric medication and treatment plans and managing crisis situations.
  • Current State of New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license in good standing
  • Current National Board Certification (PMHNP) (ANCC)
  • DEA in good standing
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Experienced with adult and/or child and adolescent populations
  • Effective written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Show initiative, creativity and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to provide quality healthcare
  • Prior experience using an electronic medical records system (Cerner)

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, education and follow-up care to patients suffering from mental illnesses, disorders or substance abuse problems.
  • Proper maintenance of records.
  • Examine patients and record history.
  • Adhere to proper charting protocols.
  • Discuss with Physician and other health care professionals to prepare comprehensive plan.
  • Order or execute tests as needed.
  • Submit health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review by Physician.
  • Analyze results of tests, diagnose and report to patient.
  • Administer or prescribe treatment and medications.
  • Refer to specialist as required for patient's well-being.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
