Requirements
- Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
Responsibilities
- Assist consumers with activities of daily living and help maintain a living spaces
- Take and record basic health measurements such as temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure
- Observe consumer behavior and report changes to the Registered Nurse
- Assist with treatment programs, therapeutic activities, and consumer supervision during on and off unit events
- Respond to medical or psychiatric emergencies according to established procedures and training
- Document consumer information, communicate observations, and maintain confidentiality of all records
