PSLA Indoor Track Coaches
About The Position
The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. The PSLA High School is hiring Indoor Track Coaches (Varsity - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program for grades 7-8 emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, preparing students for high school competition. At the high school level, the focus shifts to higher refinement of skill, competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
- Valid Adult CPR certification accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check
Nice To Haves
- Valid Concussion Management Certificate
- Previous Coaching Experience
Responsibilities
- Coach student athletes in indoor track at the high school level.
- Develop efficient team and individual efforts.
- Stress the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
- Prepare young student athletes for higher levels of competition.
Benefits
- Salary per Unit 1 contract, to be prorated per length of season.
