About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students. This position is for ITC High School - Indoor Track Coaches (Varsity - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication, encouraging maximum participation. The high school level (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams) stresses the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, with a higher refinement of skill and a greater emphasis on competition.

Requirements

  • New York State Coaching Certification
  • Valid First Aid course accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
  • Valid Adult CPR certification accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
  • Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
  • Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
  • Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
  • Fingerprint Clearance
  • School District Recommendation
  • Pass a fingerprint-based background check

Responsibilities

  • Coach student athletes in indoor track at the high school level.
  • Develop a higher refinement of skill in student athletes.
  • Foster an environment that stresses the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare teams for competition at a higher level of comprehension.
  • Encourage maximum participation in the modified program (grades 7-8) by emphasizing discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication.
  • Work with student athletes to produce as efficient a team and individual effort as possible.

Benefits

  • Salary per Unit 1 contract, to be prorated per length of season.
