About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner with them in achieving their goals of improving student achievement. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. This specific position is for Corcoran High School - Indoor Track Coaches (Varsity - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that is certified, dedicated, and cares about student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, rather than winning. The high school level (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) requires a higher refinement of skill and competition, stressing academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

Coach student athletes in indoor track at the high school level.
Develop and implement training programs to improve individual and team performance.
Emphasize academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Foster discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work in student athletes.
Prepare young student athletes for higher levels of competition.
