About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner with them in achieving their goals of improving student achievement. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. Successful educators are passionately committed to urban education, believe all students can learn at high levels, and are willing to put students' interests above all others. This specific position is for Corcoran High School Volleyball Coaches (Varsity/JV/Modified - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who work hard and care about student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) focuses on skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, rather than winning. The high school teams (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) emphasize a higher refinement of skill, competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

Coach student athletes in volleyball at the Varsity, JV, or Modified levels.
Develop skills, discipline, and teamwork in student athletes.
Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
Emphasize academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Encourage maximum participation and stress discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work in the modified program.
