About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Successful SCSD educators are passionately committed to urban education and all in for Syracuse students. This position is for PSLA High School - Volleyball Coaches (Varsity/JV/Modified - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. The coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with our student athletes. In grades 7-8, a comprehensive modified program serves as a 'training ground' for skill development and participation, emphasizing discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication. The modified program prepares student athletes for higher-level high school competition. At the high school level, a higher refinement of skill is necessary, and competition is viewed at a higher level of comprehension. High school freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams strive for success, practicing to produce efficient team and individual efforts. At the high school level, the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship are stressed.

Responsibilities

Coach Volleyball teams at the Varsity/JV/Modified levels (Head/Assistant).
Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
Stress the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Emphasize discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication at the modified level.
Encourage maximum participation in the modified program.
