PSLA Ice Hockey Coaches
About The Position
The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. The PSLA High School is looking for Ice Hockey Coaches (Varsity - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program for grades 7-8 emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, preparing students for high school competition. At the high school level, the focus shifts to refinement of skill, higher-level competition, development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course
- Valid Adult CPR certification
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check ($102.50 cost to candidate).

- Previous Coaching Experience
Responsibilities
- Coach ice hockey at the Varsity level (Head/Assistant).
- Develop and refine student athlete skills.
- Foster teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
- Emphasize the development of academics and goal setting.
- Prepare student athletes for high school competition.
- Ensure maximum participation and enjoyment in the modified program (grades 7-8), stressing discipline and hard work.
- Strive for success and produce efficient team and individual effort at the high school level.
Benefits
