About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in its innovation and transformation phase, aiming to ensure all students graduate high school college and career ready. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. This specific role is for PSLA High School Bowling Coaches (Unified - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, rather than winning. The high school program (freshman, JV, Varsity) requires a higher refinement of skill and focuses on academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, striving for team and individual success.

Requirements

  • New York State Coaching Certification
  • Valid First Aid course
  • Valid Adult CPR certification
  • Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
  • Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
  • Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
  • Fingerprint Clearance
  • School District Recommendation
  • Pass a fingerprint-based background check

Responsibilities

  • Coach student athletes in bowling at the high school level.
  • Develop and implement training programs focused on skill refinement, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Prepare teams for competition at the freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels.
  • Emphasize the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Foster a positive and disciplined environment that encourages enjoyment of play and dedication.
  • Ensure maximum participation in the modified program (grades 7-8) by stressing discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work.

Benefits
