About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. The Nottingham High School is looking for Indoor Track Coaches (Varsity - Head/Assistant). The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12. The coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated people who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program for grades 7-8 emphasizes discipline, enjoyment of play, competition, and dedication to hard work, preparing students for high school competition. At the high school level, the focus is on the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, with an emphasis on producing efficient team and individual effort.

Requirements

New York State Coaching Certification
Valid First Aid course accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
Valid Adult CPR certification accepted as meeting NYS Coaching requirements
Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
Fingerprint Clearance
School District Recommendation
Pass a fingerprint-based background check ($102.50 cost to candidate)

Responsibilities

Coach student athletes in indoor track at the Varsity level (Head/Assistant).
Develop and implement training programs to enhance team and individual performance.
Emphasize the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
Foster a positive and disciplined environment that encourages hard work and rewards.
Encourage maximum participation and skill development in the modified program (grades 7-8), where winning is not emphasized.
