Project Manager – Refrigerated Warehousing & Logistics

Echo Global Logistics•Greenfield, IN

About The Position

Roadtex Warehouse Services operates a national network of food-grade, temperature-controlled warehouses and is building a more consistent, scalable operating model as it grows. The Project Manager leads high-impact initiatives across operations, client service, technology, finance, quality, and support functions, and runs the project management office (PMO) that governs the portfolio. This visible role offers direct exposure to executive leadership and is suited to an experienced project manager who can bring clarity to complex work, influence leaders without direct authority, and move projects from concept through adoption. Approximately two-thirds of the role is program delivery, with projects involving client implementations, warehouse and repack operations, systems, facilities, and business transformation. The remaining third is PMO operations, including project intake, governance, and portfolio standards. The Project Manager owns delivery discipline; business leaders remain accountable for operating results. The role spans office and warehouse environments. Warehouse-floor work requires compliance with GMP, food safety, and PPE requirements. Travel to operating sites may be required up to 20%, with occasional schedule flexibility during launches or critical milestones.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years leading cross-functional projects, including at least 3 years in a 3PL, warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment environment.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex initiatives across multiple functions, sites, clients, or vendors.
  • Experience operating or improving a PMO, portfolio governance process, or stage-gate framework.
  • Strong judgment, facilitation, financial tracking, risk management, and executive communication skills.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms such as Microsoft Planner/Project, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or Asana.
  • Ability to follow GMP, food safety, and PPE requirements while on the warehouse floor.
  • Ability to travel to operating sites up to 20%, with occasional schedule flexibility during launches or critical milestones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering projects in food-grade, cold chain, or GFSI-certified environments, such as FSSC 22000, SQF, or BRC, is very strongly preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business priorities into project scopes, plans, milestones, resource requirements, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead multiple concurrent initiatives and manage risks, issues, scope changes, and leadership escalations.
  • Coordinate work across departments, sites, clients, and vendors; identify dependencies and drive timely decisions.
  • Coordinate operational readiness, testing, training, launch, adoption, and handoff to teams responsible for sustaining changes.
  • Ensure projects account for food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, partnering with FSQA and EHS on change control as needed.
  • Operate the division’s PMO governance cadence, including project intake, stage-gate reviews, portfolio status reporting, and weekly leadership reviews.
  • Run gate reviews and recommend go, hold, or stop decisions to sponsors; require re-baselining when scope, cost, or timeline changes materially.
  • Give sponsors and senior leaders a clear view of portfolio progress, decisions needed, and delivery barriers.
  • Maintain and improve PMO standards, templates, and the PMO playbook to support consistent execution across sites and functions.
  • Coach site and functional leaders on project discipline and serve as the escalation point for projects that fall outside standards.
  • Track results against expected benefits, capture lessons, and improve future execution.
  • Apply stage-gate discipline consistently across active portfolio projects.
  • Track benefits during delivery and after launch for every approved initiative and help ensure each has a defined business case.
