Programmatic Optimization, Media Trader

Delve•Boulder/Denver area, CO

About The Position

Delve Deeper is seeking a highly analytical, hands-on programmatic trader focused on campaign optimization. The role centers on working directly in programmatic platforms and performance data to monitor campaigns, identify what is driving results, and make changes that improve performance. The Media Trader partners closely with a Programmatic Strategist, who sets broader direction and works with clients. The trader focuses on campaign execution, analysis, testing, and translating performance data into clear recommendations; this is not a client relationship management role. The position involves optimizing programmatic media, building and evaluating tests, analyzing campaign exports alongside available client CRM and backend data, and investigating discrepancies between platform metrics and downstream outcomes. The successful candidate will help the team assess donor quality, recurring donor retention, and predicted lifetime value, and provide the Strategist with concise, actionable insights and context. The role is based in Louisville, Colorado, with candidates outside Colorado also considered. The work model is hybrid, with Tuesdays through Thursdays in the office and Mondays and Fridays remote. The stated salary range is $60,000 to $100,000, with the final offer based on experience, skills, and responsibility.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience managing and optimizing programmatic campaigns.
  • Experience with one or more programmatic platforms, such as DV360, The Trade Desk, or Amazon DSP.
  • Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups such as VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, nested formulas, and data cleanup or reshaping.
  • Ability to analyze detailed performance data and explain its practical meaning.
  • Careful, detail-oriented approach to campaign setup, pacing, naming conventions, and quality assurance.
  • Curiosity and persistence when results do not make sense, including willingness to investigate data before drawing conclusions.
  • Comfort working behind the scenes and partnering closely with a Strategist rather than owning client relationships.
  • Interest in nonprofit or mission-driven work and the role effective media can play in supporting it.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day campaign execution and optimization across programmatic platforms.
  • Apply a Start / Stop / Scale approach by stopping ineffective tactics, scaling those that contribute to meaningful results, and launching hypothesis-driven tests.
  • Adjust campaign settings, bids, budgets, frequency, placements, and other controls to improve performance and manage delivery.
  • Identify and address low-quality inventory, inefficient spend, and tactics that generate inexpensive but low-value conversions.
  • Monitor campaign pacing and budgets and make timely adjustments to support campaign goals.
  • Set up and manage tests across audiences, creative, inventory, and other campaign variables.
  • Use campaign results to assess which audiences and messages generate meaningful engagement and donor actions.
  • Identify behavioral signals that can inform audience strategy, rather than relying only on demographic assumptions.
  • Maintain organized campaign structures and naming conventions so results can be reviewed and compared accurately.
  • Export and analyze campaign data and compare platform results with available client CRM and backend data.
  • Use Excel to organize, join, and assess data related to donor quality, recurring donor retention, and predicted lifetime value.
  • Investigate discrepancies between platform metrics and backend outcomes, and assess whether campaigns contribute to qualified, incremental donors and long-term value.
  • Maintain accurate campaign records and carefully check work.
  • Explain performance changes, including cost increases such as Cost per New Sustainer.
  • Share concise findings, recommended actions, and the tradeoffs behind optimization decisions with the Programmatic Strategist.
  • Provide the Strategist with context for communicating campaign decisions and results to clients.
  • Flag risks, unusual results, and opportunities early.

Benefits

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families.
  • 401(k) plan with a 4% company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Up to three months of paid parental leave.
  • $1,250 annual wellness reimbursement.
  • Hybrid work model, with Tuesdays through Thursdays in the office and Mondays and Fridays remote.
  • Collaborative team that values curiosity, growth, coachability, and focused work.
