About The Position

Camp Fire Alaska Program Staff are responsible for supervising activities with groups of youth in an after-school program setting. The role aims to help youth develop social, emotional, physical, and academic skills through hands-on, educational activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and structured play. The position supports Camp Fire’s mission to provide youth with opportunities to find their spark, lift their voice, and discover who they are. The School Age Program runs from August to May, Monday through Friday, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Staff work an average of 20-25 hours per week, with 4 hours daily of site time and up to 1-2 additional hours daily for meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • Minimum age limit is 16 years old (prioritizing staff 18 and older due to licensing ratio requirements).
  • Ability to transport yourself to work (school site, Camp Fire office).
  • Be flexible in work assignment (may be sent, as needed, to a different work location).
  • Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED & First Aid certification (paid for and provided by Camp Fire after hire).
  • Food Worker Card certification (paid for and provided by Camp Fire after hire).
  • Mandated Reporter training certificate (paid for and provided by Camp Fire after hire).
  • Health & Safety certificate (paid for and provided by Camp Fire after hire).
  • Successful completion of reference checks.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history check through the Alaska Background Check Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with kids in a group setting is preferred.
  • Experience, training, or education in youth development, education, or recreation is preferred.
