About The Position

The Program Manager - Student Leadership has primary responsibilities in Student Leadership, Supervision/Advising, Administration, and On-Call Emergency. The Program Manager is responsible for student engagement through advising of University Student Housing organizations, development of the howdy techsans leadership program and overall student engagement area operational support. The Program Manager is supervised by the Director - Student Engagement within the Residence Life area. Note: All positions are considered part of the larger team. In the event of a vacancy, staff may be asked to fulfill a role or have other job duties added to their position to meet the needs of staff and the department. Every effort will be made to recruit and fill positions as quickly as possible to allow staff to return to the duties for which they originally were hired.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects.
  • Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary advisor for the Residence Halls Association and additional affiliated organization(s) as assigned.
  • Coordinate and implement Howdy Techsans program.
  • Serve as a coordinator between student leadership and area/departmental leadership regarding new proposals, initiatives and ideas.
  • Promote community engagement through even coordination including Raider Welcome Week, Safe Treat, Carol of Lights Banquet and other student organization sponsored events.
  • Serve as advisor to and/or coordinate staff advisors to student organization conferences including, but not limited to SWACURH, NACURH, and SWACUHO Student Leadership Conference.
  • Provide support to student engagement area initiatives including as needed, student learning initiatives, scholarships, end of year celebration, etc.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager - Student Learning on the implementation of local alternative spring break trips.
  • Provide administration oversight for area functions including but not limited to budget management, recruitment systems, student engagement model, payroll approval, Maxient and student of concern reporting, and other departmental databases and systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders particularly related to recruitment and summer operations areas.
  • Assess and report on effectiveness of area initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Senior Specialist regarding care package and linen fundraisers.
  • Advise, chair or serve on departmental or ResLife committees or liaison opportunities, as assigned.
  • Assist with implementation of area initiatives as assigned.
  • Recruit, train, and provide direct advising to Residence Halls Association executive board.
  • Hold regular 1-1 meetings with direct advisees to provide guidance to organization initiatives.
  • Provide indirect supervision and support to Residence Life Professional and Student Staff, particularly in relation to student leadership and engagement.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with direct supervisees /advisees and indirect staff, as assigned.
  • Train and advise Residence Life Staff on student engagement, student leadership, and area initiatives as directed.
  • Serve as a member of the Residence Life Leadership On-Call Team throughout the academic year, university breaks, and summer for a residential population of over 8200 students.
  • Be available on a call-to-duty status to assist with residence hall and campus emergencies.
  • Communicate appropriately with emergency personnel, University Student Housing, and other campus officials as needed.
  • Support professional staff in responding to crises and providing follow-up.
