About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with Hope Women’s Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to offer community services aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in the Phoenix Valley. Hope Women’s Center provides free life skills classes, mentoring, job training, and programs for expectant mothers, mothers, and children. This Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) position, approved under the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program, requires applicants to have their FAFSA on file and be eligible for FWS. The CSLP Intern's work schedule is flexible, not exceeding 20 hours per week during the academic year, and is dependent on the operational needs of Hope Women's Center. Services provided are open and accessible to non-GCU community members.

Requirements

• Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor's or master's program.
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA for bachelor's level students or a 3.0 GPA for master's level students.
• Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
• Possess strong ethics, integrity, and a sense of responsibility.

Nice To Haves

• Previous mentoring experience.
• Ability to speak a second language.

Responsibilities

• Care for children ages 0-5 while mothers utilize Hope Women's Center services.
• Greet English- and Spanish-speaking visitors and address their inquiries.
• Provide bilingual support for courses conducted in English.
• Offer administrative and classroom technology assistance.
• Assist with other tasks as needed.
