About The Position

This internship supports early-stage entrepreneurs through the ideation and validation phases of business development. The role involves helping refine business ideas, assess feasibility, and engage community feedback to build sustainable, income-generating ventures. The position is with Hustle PHX, a partner of Grand Canyon University (GCU), which provides resources to low-income, underserved entrepreneurs. The work schedule is dependent on Hustle PHX's hours and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. This position is approved as Community Service (CSLP) and Federal Work-Study (FWS), requiring applicants to be eligible for FWS and to serve non-GCU community members.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Committed to supporting and uplifting others.
  • Maintain strong ethical standards, integrity, and a high level of personal accountability.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage responsibilities with attention to quality and outcomes.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Responsibilities

  • Support early-stage entrepreneurs through the ideation and validation phases of business development.
  • Help refine business ideas, assess feasibility, and engage community feedback.
  • Provide workshop materials and assist with special events, such as Pitch Night.
  • Record attendance of workshops and collect relevant program data, including workshop surveys.
  • Assist with the set up/tear down of workshops and events.
  • Fill out and document site reports to capture data on program participants and volunteer engagement.
  • Manage and oversee use of Discord by volunteers and entrepreneurs.
  • Follow up with entrepreneurs who miss workshops or do not turn in assignments.
  • Communicate with and care for volunteers and entrepreneurs, including workshop and homework reminders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
