About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations that are identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with Hope Women’s Center, which offers free life skills classes, mentoring, job training, and programs for expectant mothers, mothers, and children. This position is an FWS-CSLP approved role, meaning its services are open and accessible to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on the hours of operation and needs of Hope Women’s Center, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Applicants must complete their FAFSA to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish-speaking a plus
  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Care for children ages 0 – 5 while mothers use Hope Women’s Center services.
  • Greet visitors and answer their questions.
  • Assist with donation sorting and stocking Women’s boutique.
  • Provide administrative and classroom technology support.
  • Assist as needed.
