About The Position
The Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking to fill an open-rank faculty position in the area of social psychology. The appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), Associate Professor (with tenure), or Full Professor (with tenure), commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and record of scholarly achievement. The Department is a multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative environment. We encourage applications from any sub-field of research in social psychology. The successful candidate will advance the educational mission of the College of Letters & Science, which values, prioritizes, and actualizes evidence-based and student-centered teaching and (undergraduate student) mentoring. They will contribute to an environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students, and members of the broader community. Candidates for this position may be eligible for participation in the Excellence in Mentoring Initiative. The Excellence in Mentoring Initiative aims to recruit outstanding faculty who, in addition to their demonstrated excellence or strong potential in research and teaching, have demonstrated the ability and commitment to mentor underprepared or under-resourced students to help them achieve academic success at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. In this case, the faculty member will join a cohort of Excellence in Mentoring Initiative faculty across campus and become part of a growing community of scholars dedicated to inclusive mentorship and student success. The successful candidate, as a member of the College of L&S, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college’s commitment to excellence among all aspects of their teaching, mentoring, research, and service. Requirements
- Evidence of creativity and excellence in teaching and scholarly research
- Experience with fostering or the ability to foster a teaching, learning, mentoring, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to mentor at-risk, first-generation, or underrepresented undergraduate or graduate students to achieve academic success
- PhD in Psychology or similar by start of appointment
