About The Position

The Psychology Department at Rhodes College invites applications for an assistant professor position beginning Fall of 2027. This position contributes to the interdisciplinary Neuroscience program, with teaching commitments split between Psychology and Neuroscience. Area of specialization within the field of neuroscience is open, although preference will be given to candidates with training in cognitive, clinical, or developmental neuroscience. Teaching responsibilities will be split between psychology and neuroscience and will include five courses/labs per year (labs count as a full teaching involvement) including an upper-level neuroscience course and lab in the applicant’s area of expertise and introductory courses in both psychology and neuroscience. The successful candidate must demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching and research at a liberal arts college. Rhodes faculty have access to a variety of equipment, including a wireless EEG system, an eye tracker, and an NSF-funded state-of-the-art motion capture system. In addition, opportunities for collaborative research are available through our partnerships with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee Medical School, and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in an appropriate subdiscipline of psychology or neuroscience by July 2027.
