About The Position

The Department of Psychology at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, USA, welcomes applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology search for a full-time tenure-track faculty member to join the Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology program. A Ph.D. in I-O Psychology or a related field is required by the appointment date for all ranks. All levels are welcome to apply, with preference for candidates who have completed their PhD and have at least a few years of experience in an academic position. Candidates with advanced quantitative skills are preferred; content of research focus is open, but ideally complements existing expertise (e.g., leadership, selection, individual and group differences, organizational/national culture). Candidates for Assistant Professor of Psychology must have demonstrated ability as a researcher, scholar, and teacher in a relevant field and evidence of growth in scholarly achievement that is commensurate with years of experience. The ideal candidate is publishing in top I-O psychology journals, has record of or clear potential for external funding, and has clear potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring. Duties will involve a combination of teaching, research, and service, based on the candidate’s qualifications. Candidates for Associate Professor of Psychology must have demonstrated excellence as a researcher, scholar, teacher and mentor in a relevant field. The ideal candidate has strong record of publication in top I-O journals, has a history of external funding, and strong record of teaching and mentoring of students and early career scholars. Duties will involve a combination of teaching, research, and service, based on the candidate’s qualifications. Responsibilities for both Assistant Professor and Associate Professor include maintaining a strong record of publications in top outlets, resident instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and normal university service. Onsite teaching is an essential function of this job. Rich opportunities exist for collaboration within the department and across campus, and a record of collaboration is desirable. Substantial collaboration opportunities exist if the candidate has interests that align with any of the department’s cross-cutting research themes.
