About The Position

Acadiana Area Human Services District (AAHSD) is seeking a Professional Counselor for its Tyler Behavioral Health Clinic in Lafayette, Louisiana. The District’s mission is to improve the quality of life for Acadiana residents with behavioral health and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role provides direct client care to individuals with emotional, behavioral, addictive, and/or co-occurring disorders through evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy. The position also includes screening, triage, referrals, emergency evaluations, and facilitating hospitalization when clinically indicated. Appointment may be probational or promotional. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. The clinic is an NHSC-approved site, and qualifying professional counselors may be eligible to participate in a loan repayment program.

Requirements

Possess a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
Have at least two years of licensed counseling experience.

Responsibilities

Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions through individual, group, and family therapy.
Complete documentation within established timelines and submit therapy notes into an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Provide screening, triage, and referral services for clients seeking clinical treatment.
Conduct emergency evaluations and facilitate hospitalization when clinically indicated.
Use Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques when necessary.
Work in accordance with applicable licensing and governmental laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, accreditation requirements, and AAHSD guidelines.
