About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the Fall 2026 semester, teaching Oral and Written Communication in French – Intermediate II (FLS2512, Section B00) at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) within the Faculty of Arts. The course involves comprehension of general and university-level written and audio documents, practice in oral expression through discussions, short presentations, and exercises, and practice in written expression focusing on simple and complex sentences, paragraphs, and short texts. It also includes systematization of linguistic code knowledge and individual practice. The course is in-person, with classes scheduled for Mondays from 11:30 to 13:00 and Thursdays from 13:00 to 14:30. The expected enrollment is 30 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The hourly rate for this language course is $203.54 (2024-2025 rates), which does not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in French as a Second Language Didactics or a relevant field for teaching French as a Second Language.
  • Two years of experience teaching French as a Second Language at the university level, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with software and technology relevant to teaching French as a Second Language courses.
  • Any professor who taught an FLS/ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018, is considered to meet the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Oral and Written Communication in French – Intermediate II (FLS2512, Section B00).
  • Facilitate comprehension of general and university-level written and audio documents.
  • Guide students in oral expression practice, including free discussions, short presentations, and oral exercises.
  • Instruct students in written expression, focusing on sentence structure, paragraphing, and short text composition.
  • Systematize students' knowledge of the linguistic code.
  • Provide individual practice opportunities for students.
  • Conduct in-person classes.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
