About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the course "Conception d'enquête et acquisition des données quantitatives" (SOC2716 Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester at the Main Campus. The course focuses on the development of quantitative survey research, from problem formulation to preliminary data analysis. It covers concept operationalization, questionnaire design based on literature review, identification of statistical tools, methodological and statistical definitions, sampling theory and practice, survey implementation (pre-test and administration), basic statistical analysis using computer tools, and univariate and bivariate descriptive statistics. Special attention will be given to ethics, professional autonomy, teamwork, and the relationship between data and social life.

Requirements

Hold a Master's degree in sociology and have completed doctoral coursework in sociology or advanced training in sociology.
Possess a record demonstrating expertise in quantitative studies, evidenced by teaching identical or similar courses or by publications in this field.
Demonstrate practical knowledge of SPSS software and the ability to teach it.

Responsibilities

Develop a quantitative survey research project from problem formulation to preliminary data analysis.
Operationalize concepts and formulate questionnaires based on a substantial literature review.
Identify available statistical sources and tools relevant to the research problem.
Apply methodological and statistical definitions.
Implement sampling theory in practice.
Conduct the survey, including pre-testing and questionnaire administration.
Utilize computer tools for basic statistical analysis of collected data.
Perform univariate and bivariate descriptive statistics.
Address issues of ethics, professional autonomy, teamwork, and the relationship between data and social life.
