About The Position

This course, SOC3731 A00 - Sociologie et anthropologie du développement, offers a critical approach to the development paradigm and the main sociological and anthropological theories that underpin it. It examines the history of implemented programs and the orientations guiding international development policies. The course situates the concepts of development and underdevelopment within the structural inequality of power and knowledge in favor of the West. It provides an overview of major contemporary societal transformations from a critical perspective. Empirical case studies will be used to understand development as a social phenomenon involving a variety of culturally situated actors and knowledge systems.

Requirements

  • Hold a Master's degree in sociology and have completed doctoral coursework in sociology or advanced training in sociology.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the field of sociology of development, evidenced by teaching identical or similar courses or by publications in this field.
  • Be a student part-time professor.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course SOC3731 A00 - Sociologie et anthropologie du développement.
  • Provide instruction in French.
  • Conduct the course on Mondays from 19:00 to 22:00 in person.
